The Loan Process
Please completely fill out the online HFLA Loan Application to the best of your ability by choosing “Apply Online” below.
Once you submit the application, you will be contacted within a few business days by a representative of HFLA in order to review your application with you and to complete our pre-loan interview.
Due to COVID-19 we are encouraging the applicants to apply exclusively on-line. However, if you wish to have an in-person interview, please choose “Book an Appointment,” and we will schedule you for an interview appointment at the HFLA office. The interview will be conducted during HFLA open hours on Thursday nights between 7:00pm and 8:30pm.

“We didn’t realize how expensive tuition would be for our daughter recently diagnosed with dyslexia”.
Even with an assessed reduction in tuition, the local private school that could best service Devorah were beyond their capabilities. With the help of HFLA, Devorah’s parents were able to secure an education loan so their daughter could attend this school that would best meet her needs.
The process to apply for an interest free loan includes:
Submitting an application
Meeting with (one or two) members of the HFLA board of directors
Providing driver’s license information
Presenting cosigners (if applicable)
Signing a promissory note
HFLA personal loan applicant must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Be at least 18 years old
Reside in the Greater Baltimore area
Have a legitimate need for the loan
Demonstrate the ability to pay the loan back within the time-frame established by the HFLA
HFLA personal loans often require cosigners. An HFLA cosigner (which is technically a co-maker of the note) needs to be a property owner in the greater Baltimore area.
Some exceptions may apply.
